Classically trained in Eastern Europe, Oksana began her art career in L’viv, Ukraine studying at the Ivan Trush L’viv College of Decorative & Applied Arts, graduating in 2002. Now based in Edmonton, Zhelisko’s work varies from figurative art to still life and urban landscapes. Zhelisko primarily paints alla-prima (wet-on-wet), lending her work a fresh and expressionistic style. “I would like to think of myself as a storyteller. Each painting, whether it is an urban landscape or figurative art, is a moment in time with deep emotions, atmosphere and purpose. If my art can touch one’s soul and evoke their deepest emotions – then I have succeeded as an artist.”
