Aliya Boubard is an Anishinaabekwe artist and curator from Sagkeeng First Nation, located in Treaty 1 Territory in Manitoba. She holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of Manitoba and a Post-Baccalaureate Diploma in Indigenous Studies from Simon Fraser University. Aliya is currently working as the Curator at the Bill Reid Gallery of Northwest Coast Art in downtown Vancouver and has been a guest in Coast Salish territory since the fall of 2020. She has been beading since the beginning of the pandemic, and started her beading page Arboubbeads shortly after. She is inspired by traditional beadwork, but also incorporates contemporary colours and patterns into her work.
