Anne McCartney originally studied Interior Design at the University of Manitoba and worked briefly as a graphic artist before she began watercolour painting. She began to paint seriously in 2005 and has gone on to win many awards and honours including just recently receiving second place in Galleria’s 2020 International Watercolor Contest. She has exhibited around the world and her work has been included in many international publications. Essentially a self-taught artist McCartney has a painstaking approach to her watercolour paintings which involves building many layers of transparent washes to create the depth and detail which characterizes her work.
