We are excited to announce that the John Beedle fonds are now available to the public to view on our online database!
John Beedle had a lifelong interest in nature, which translated into his work with the City of St. Albert over 29 years. Beedle moved through the ranks with the City of St. Albert as Parks Foreman and Parks Supervisor, and in 1968 he was promoted to Director of Parks and Recreation. In 1972 he became Parks Planner until his retirement in 1991. It was mainly under his guidance, passion and vision that the city of St. Albert has developed its beautiful boulevards, parks, tree canopies and green spaces.
The John Beedle fonds is a special collection of slides that Beedle captured during his tenure with the City of St. Albert. They were donated by Beedle to the Musée Héritage Museum in the early 2000s. The photographs primarily cover the city's green spaces, trees and plants. Horticulturalists will be impressed with Beedle's documentation. Different shots of various city buildings, constructions, parks, events and aerials of St. Albert provide a unique view of our city.
